On Tuesday, January 10th Hockey Edmonton held a press conference in the Hall of Fame room at Rogers Place to launch Quikcard Edmonton Minor Hockey Week as well as announce the winners of the 2017 Wayne Gretzky Awards.
The Wayne Gretzky Award is awarded annually during Quikcard Edmonton Minor Hockey Week to a participant in the AA, BB and Junior programs. The recipients are nominated and chosen based on sportsmanship, scholastic achievement and community involvement. The 2017 Wayne Gretzky Awards sponsored by ATB Financial were awarded in the categories of Midget BB, Bantam and Midget AA, and Junior. Hockey Edmonton congratulates the three winners: Nikolai Kruhlak, BB award winner; Brennan Kowalchuk, AA award winner; and Dakota Heise, Junior award winner.

This year will be Bill's 50th year volunteering with the event and also his last as he will be retiring after this year. Bill has been an incredibly dedicated volunteer over the years spending hours working to make Quikcard Edmonton Minor Hockey Week the fantastic event that it is. Thank you Bill for all you have done for Minor Hockey Weeks past and present!
